WELCOME TO London Children’s Orthopaedics

Mr Norman-Taylor specialises in Children’s Orthopaedics.

Children's orthopaedics is a surgical specialty, but most children we see do not need surgery;
and many parents and families are looking for answers rather than treatment:

  • Is my daughter walking normally? She seems to have a limp.
  • How serious is this knee pain?
  • Are my child’s feet the right shape?
  • Are special shoes good for flat feet?
  • Is tiptoe walking normal?
  • Should my baby have an ultrasound scan for a clicky hip?
  • Does mild hip dysplasia always need treatment? We’ve been advised to use a Pavlik harness.
  • Different doctors have told us different things.
  • We have read so much about Perthes’ disease, but still have no answers.
  • Does my child have cerebral palsy?
  • Should my child have botulinum toxin (“botox”) injections for spasticity?
  • My child doesn’t want to wear AFOs. Are they really necessary?
  • Will selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) mean less orthopaedic surgery?
  • Our son has cerebral palsy. What can we do to prevent hip problems like displacement?
  • What can be done for spina bifida?
  • Should our child have a hip x-ray for Charcot Marie Tooth disease?
  • Where can we get advice on our child’s rare condition?

A consultation with a children's orthopaedic surgeon is the best way to get the right information,
but some of the pages of this website might be helpful too.
